Thoroughbreds...
Here at Double Diamond Acres, the Thoroughbred Breed is our main focus. We do not breed competitively with them, but in fact mostly focus on re-training them fresh off the track.
***
The Thoroughbred breed excels in Gallop, Speed, and Dressage. Having been bred for their incredible speed, they are mainly known for their very fast traits and are often bred competitively for gallop races. The breed also has a very clean jumping form, which is why they are also very popular in Showjumping and Cross Country.
Thoroughbreds, known as "hot-blooded," tend to be very spirited and bold. With their very excitable temperment and endless energy, they are mainly suitable for intermediate-advanced riders. However, with the right rider, they are known to be "the ultimate ride" with their flowing, powerful gaits.
The Thoroughbred breed generally stands about 15-17 hh, and weighs about 1000-1100 lbs. They also come in most solid colors, but are mostly seen in Bays, Greys, Blacks, and Chestnuts. Less common colors include Palominos, Roans, and very rarely, Cremello.
